SEE ART ALL MONTH DURING BUSINESS HOURS AND ART WALK ON MARCH 20TH 5-8PM
Becca Lavin started painting in 2020 when her 20 year old private massage therapy practice closed its doors for the last time. Becca's art is mainly abstract or representational abstract using every medium that is within reach. It is restless, colorful and textured with a mind of its own. If there is a theme, she hasn't found it yet. Perhaps, Freedom. By the time she finishes a painting there is usually a deep understanding that has surfaced, for her. She leaves the rest to the observer as that is one of the magical things about abstract. The utter subjectiveness of what comes through to the observer.
Laura Steeves unearths an innate love of vibrant bold colors and unworldly elements, reminiscent of her childhood in Colombia. She works with mixed media via an intuitive process that has no plan or end goal in mind but rather sets an intention to evoke some deeper meaning in herself and others. She uses color to reveal those hidden things and texture to emphasize them, merging them into a bigger, livening story. Each corner of her works begins, at one part of that story and at some other inevitable point they collapse and coalesce into one another. Her works are a symbol of time and expression over a lifetime.

After school, she dove into the working world focused on video production and really only rediscovered painting as her main passion about four years ago. "I've been fully immersed ever since," Mary says.
Mary is often inspired by the Skagit Valley where she grew up, as well as many places nearby such as the Washington Coast, Eastern Washington, and even her own neighborhood. With all her art, she tries to capture rich colors, soft textures, and dreamy light. Right now she is loving painting trees and forests: capturing soft layers of canopy through fog, sunlight through branches, paths that wind into the distance and invite you on to the next turn of the bend. She loves the intimacy of these forest scenes, how the trees can envelop you and draw you into their comforting environment.
