The Art Walk Edmonds is a month-long celebration of the Arts in Edmonds! Local artists will be showcased at businesses all month long, and some businesses will also host a Third Thursday night Art Walk on October 17th from 5-8pm.

Chris Minor, a long time Northwest resident, lives and works in Edmonds, Washington. His artistic interests currently include printmaking and acrylic painting. At the present time, his primary focus is linoleum cut blockprinting. Though self-taught with no formal art training, he has enjoyed a creative outlet the last thirty plus years through his “day job ” as a carpenter/cabinetmaker. Lino-cut blockprinting was a natural fit considering his years of experience with tools, attention to detail, and skills required in finish carpentry. Chris has only recently been offering his work for sale and public display. In the summer of 2011 his print titled “Ryoriya, Kyoto” won first place at the Edmonds Arts Festival juried competition. His work is also in private collections in Florida, Tennessee , Seattle and Japan.

Wurm Wares was dreamed up a long time ago, when Erika was wanting to do something with her creative ideas and perfectly silly last name. She loves designing up new exciting ways to bring happy handmade art into everyone’s world. After working as a professional horticulturist for several years, the subjects of her inspiration reflect her love and respect for nature. This passion continues with her mission to play with as much repurposed materials as possible, which gives her eco-conscious pieces interesting textures and dimensions. Erika studied traditional Illustration for briefly at universities on the west coast but found her creative voice later in life. Allowing herself the freedom to experiment with different mediums is what keeps her excited about making. Recently Erika has been hosting Makers Markets, a new addition to her local community called the Salish Sea Makers Market. It has been a passion of hers to give creatives in her community a platform to showcase their work.
Admission is free at Cascadia Art Museum from 5-8pm for the Third Thursday Art Walk. They will also offer Ambassador-led tours of their current exhibitions.

Nikki Starwalker is a Colombian American visual artist with Native American ancestry. She specializes in abstract skyscapes and landscapes beautifully painted in oil. She was born in Bogotá and spent time in an orphanage before being adopted and relocated to the United States. Nikki’s interest in contemporary visual communication led her to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interactive Media Design. She then moved to Edmonds, Washington. She produces her art from a studio in North Seattle. Nikki also paints outdoors, en plein air, in addition to her studio work. The natural environment inspires the compositions and forms she uses in her art. She has exhibited her work in Washington since 2016 and continues to accrue accolades and juried invites throughout the greater Seattle Metro area. Most recently she’s exhibited at the Lynn Hanson Gallery in downtown Seattle. Nikki also volunteers in Washington’s first Certified Creative District for the Edmonds Arts Festival.

Known for her striking palette knife work, Pat Clayton is a master of painting reflections surrounded by the beauty of textural landscapes. Finding her inspiration from the rivers and streams of the Methow, the islands of Washington and more, her latest collection have a three-dimensional feel, bringing her beautiful landscapes to life.
James Swanson has been an award-winning professional artist for over 20 years. As an illustrator, he created paintings for some of the biggest companies in the world, McDonald’s, Budweiser, ESPN, and the U.S. Open to name a few. As a renowned painter with a flair for the whimsical, he often found inspiration in the most unexpected places. From his beloved golden retrievers to horses, koi and more, his paintings have captured the imaginations of all who saw them, cementing James Swanson’s reputation as an artist who could find magic in the everyday and bring it to life on canvas.
Show runs October 17th through December 3rd.

Shelli Markee is a silversmith and wire artist known for her raw and rustic style. Inspired by nature and beauty in organic and simple forms, Shelli carefully handcrafts each piece in her collection. Rustic and modern at once, her sculptures create contoured drawings with the use of wire and negative space. These sculptures include wire lampshades, flocks of birds, human figures, flowers, furniture, wire writing and abstract forms. As for her jewelry, Shelli works in sterling silver and brass and oxidized silver making unique earrings, bracelets and necklaces. All of her creations are made only with hand tools in her home studio in Seattle, Washington.

As a retired mountaineer, Priscilla Moore is entranced by the natural world and creates silk mushrooms with plant dyes, beads and so much more. She also creates wall hangings which are delightful works of many hours of stitching small worlds. Each work is a thoughtful reflection on the ephemeral and delicate beauty. This month, Priscilla will be sharing new work from her doll series "Earthlings"! Come meet these enchanting creations and hear their wonderful stories from the artist.

ArtistsConnect Edmonds (AC Edmonds) was born under the Edmonds Arts Festival and Foundation umbrella from a need for local artists to have a place to meet and connect with other artists. The members come from all walks of life and create in many different 2D and 3D media. Members come from Edmonds, Mukilteo, Lynnwood, Kirkland, Bothell, Snohomish, Shoreline, Seattle, Everett, Mill Creek and other local communities. ArtistsConnect Edmonds is an information resource – created from the collective wisdom of the group – and from the talented presenters that offer specific expertise.
This show, “Art into Autumn”, will feature one to two pieces from each participating artist, and will offer a diverse array of artistic styles from abstract and landscape to traditional photography and fiber art.
Show runs October 3rd through November 30th.

AUTHOR EVENT DURING ART WALK ON OCTOBER 17TH AT 6PM
Edmonds Bookshop is pleased to announce that mountain photographer and environmental storyteller Christian Murillo will be presenting his book, “Soul of the Skagit”, during October Art Walk. He will also be showing a select number of his photographs.
”Soul of the Skagit” is the story of the Skagit River watershed, told through photography and writing. Murillo follows the river from its glaciers, all the way to the river delta and Salish Sea beyond. This 160-page story is filled with complex relationships between man and the natural world. The book was an IPPY Silver Medalist for Mountain West Non-Fiction.

Painting is Deon’s life and Deon spends as much time as possible doing it. Deon creates several hundred pieces per year. Deon paints for personal joy. but is always a pleasure when someone out there wants a piece of creativity. A favorite subject is beat up, abandoned, rusting, and falling apart, trucks. Deon wants to see the paint peeling in the paintings. This is part of Deon’s desire to portray the vanishing American farm. Deon has painted many landscapes of old farms, decrepit barns, and the detritus left after the farm has failed, the family has left.

Landscapes of the western United States are often the subject of David’s paintings. However several tours throughout Europe, and in particular Italy, have inspired him to regularly paint scenes from European country and city life as well. His work is a combination of plein air and studio paintings. He loves to get outdoors and painting on location whenever he can. Interiors of Edmonds is happy to be showing David’s limited edition giclée reproductions.

Vey is a multi-disciplinary artist specializing in graphite, ink, and digital painting, often combining the three mediums. Her creations consist of whimsical subjects often with a hint of eeriness. In her works she creates a sense of magic and surrealism. It’s as if her subjects live in their own fairytale. Vey’s work is meant to invoke a sense of wonder to the viewer. Vey is currently enrolled as a student at Edmonds College, on her way to earn her associate’s degree in visual communications and technical arts.

At an early age, Lorenzo showed great interest in art. However, it was strongly suggested that he find a more suitable interest. His father purchased a point-and-shoot camera (mainly to keep Lorenzo from playing with his camera). After many years of experimentation, Lorenzo developed a way to change the details of his photo images to a more artistic/abstract viewpoint. Lorenzo was a past Edmonds Art Festival scholarship recipient. He graduated from Edmonds College in 2020 with an Associate Technical Arts Degree. From 2020 to 2024, he has worked in the Edmonds Art and Photo Department as a Lab Assistant.

Shari Levine is a color addict. (She's also a chocolate addict, but we’ll leave that for another day!) She's planned entire trips around seeing the exact shade of the ocean as it appeared on a website. For her, color is electric and comes alive. She recalls standing on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean and seeing a thousand hues of turquoise, sapphire, emerald and teal glistening in the sun. Color draws her in and inspires her. Shari is an encaustic artist working with fused layers of wax and oil paint. As an artist, she hopes to bring you what wows her so much. Her show is called “Color Ignited” because she loves color, and she paints with fire!

Trippy Chickadee Art draws inspiration from Hayao Miyazaki and Junji Ito, adult animation, horror, nature, and animals. Her art showcases a sort of duality that dances between vibrant cheerfulness and darkier, edgier styles. In addition SJ has painted artwork for album covers like the artwork for Balsam Grove's 2024 LP, You're Safe Here.

Kerri Kirk is an award-winning fiber artist from the Pacific Northwest. She’s been an artist all her life, but first got interested in felting wool in 2019, received two kits for her birthday, and hasn’t stopped creating since. She is inspired by nature and bright colors, and incorporates different textures into her works. All fiber is game for being transformed into a beautiful piece of felted artwork. Whether by wet-felting or needle-felting, merino or corriedale, coconut or silk, it’s all a fun journey of creativity. Kerri also now teaches felting techniques at Stranded By The Sea, right here in Edmonds!

Michele Campbell is a nature photographer based in Edmonds, Washington. Specializing in the evocative realms of wildlife and landscape photography, Michele finds her muse within the vibrant textures in nature and timeless beauty of free roaming sheep, horses, and the vast expanses of Iceland and England's green hills. Inspired by film photography, her images are filled with a nostalgic warmth reminiscent of travel memories that linger long after the journey ends. Michele's photography not only captures the raw beauty of wildlife and landscapes but also patience in the natural world. Her work is unedited, a gentle reminder of our small place within the vast tapestry of nature, encouraging us to embrace the beauty of it all. This show, "Sheep In Field", is a story-telling display of window-like framing encouraging viewers to feel as if they are in it. Through her work, she seeks to awaken a sense of appreciation and calmness, inviting audiences to look beyond the ordinary and discover the extraordinary presence that lies within the green expanses.

This October they are combining these two fun events into one big art-focused fundraiser for the Edmonds Food Bank! Young Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea. She came to the United States in 1986 and has always had a passion for art ever since she was young. She started up her own restaurant, Asian Express, in Columbia Center Tower located in Seattle to support her and her family. She had her own art gallery in Columbia Center as well from 2004-2009. Young dreamed of pursuing art and opening up her own gallery. She is currently a KAAW member (Korean Art Association) who have held exhibitions at Tacoma, Edmonds, Seattle, and more.
The gallery represents both American and international artists exhibiting Asian painting and calligraphy in Edmonds, WA.
