Perry Jakobs is an intersex queer artist from Everett, Washington. Perry is heavily inspired by pastel fantasies and folklore themes from their childhood wandering woods on the edge of their small town. In work, they most often pursue a blend of melancholic whimsy with fantastical techniques to create all sorts of new and wonderful friends for you. Perry enjoys subverting expectations. Their art is whimsical and colourful, but behind every piece is a bit of sadness. While many see pastel creatures and assume they mean joy, each piece has a bit of Perry’s own life story behind it. What Perry loves most is hearing how others interpret their art!

SEE ART ALL MONTH DURING BUSINESS HOURS ONLY

Nikki works out of her art studio in Seattle, Washington, creating abstract landscapes and skyscapes. Her artwork explores the themes of identity, dreams, introspection and empathy.
The paintings she creates convey the emotional impact of viewing the sky instead of rendering it. The clouds in her work are undetailed shapes created with loose gestures. There are visible brush marks and scattered fragments of color throughout. Opaque oil paint heightens the abstraction of masses of delicate water vapor. As an adoptee, the issue of identity has always been complex and linked with uncertainty. Nikki’s art reminds her to relinquish the need to define her past or future and accept the experience of living. The paintings reflect the significance of ordinary moments. They encourage the viewer to pay attention.
